So I remember my college days at the University of Illinois fondly, and how many times I moved in and out of the dorms and apartments. Home for the summers, and back to college, each time exciting, and each time packing the mini-van and making one trip.
I had less STUFF back then.
We are knee deep in boxes, newsprint, bubblewrap, and packing tape. Boxing up everything for the storage unit.
Our lease is up May 10th and Bobby's parents are letting us move in with them as we continue our search for our dream house. So nearly everything is going into a storage unit.
Amazing how much stuff we accumulated since moving here in April 2011. All the wonderful gifts from our wedding shower, the desk behind our couch that we made, the canvas prints hung up on the walls. And all our fun kitchen tools.
As I'm packing, I'm realizing how I might be on the edge of being a hoarder. Did I really need to keep all the Bath & Body Works body sprays? Suntan lotion that expired in 2012. Drink umbrellas from fun nights out on the town. Moving our stuff into storage really made me 'clean house' since I decided I really don't need it if I'm not willing to store it. Maybe if we were moving right into a house, I'd just pack everything and sort it out later. With limited storage space, I really have to decide if it's worth packing away for a month or more.
In a way, I think moving everything to storage, and tossing out the randomness not worth keeping, is going to help us start clean and fresh in our new house. Wherever that may be.
Naperville was good to us. I do love the downtown area, which we don't get to that often. But this Route 59 mess will not be missed. It will be fun to come back when they finally finish all the construction to see how it turns out. I don't even remember how 59 looked before the construction started.
Even though moving to Batavia or Geneva will be a longer train ride for me, it's such a cute area. And that train line seems to have a lot less issues than the BNSF train line, so I'm excited for that aspect. At least I've got my MacBook to keep me occupied.
Well, enough procrastination for tonight. Back to packing!
